Safety featuresIs “Supervised account” something to worry about? More Safety features terms
Supervised account
A child or teen account formally linked to a parent's account for oversight — Google Family Link, Instagram supervision, Microsoft Family Safety, and others. The parent gets controls and limited visibility; the child keeps using the platform normally.
How kids use it
On most platforms a 13+ teen can remove supervision themselves; under-13 usually can't. Know which applies before you rely on it.
Good news — "Supervised account" is a protective feature, not a threat. The catch with platform safety features is that most ship OFF by default, or only half-configured.
- Turn it on deliberately and re-check it after big app updates — settings occasionally reset or move.
