Safety featuresIs “Family Center” something to worry about? More Safety features terms
Family Center
The shared name several platforms (Snapchat, Discord, Meta/Instagram) use for their parental-supervision dashboard. A parent links to their teen's account and gets limited visibility — who they talk to, time spent, new friends added — plus some setting controls. Parents do not see message content.
How kids use it
If your teen is on Snapchat, Discord, or Instagram, setting up Family Center is the baseline supervision step. See the platform's setup guide.
Good news — "Family Center" is a protective feature, not a threat. The catch with platform safety features is that most ship OFF by default, or only half-configured.
- Turn it on deliberately and re-check it after big app updates — settings occasionally reset or move.
