Nintendo Switch 2's voice and video chat feature, available across compatible games. For users under 16, a parent must approve each friend and each individual video-chat session through the Parental Controls app.
How kids use it
Switch-2 only. Voice chat with strangers is the main concern; per-friend approval is the lever.
Good news — "GameChat" is a protective feature, not a threat. The catch with platform safety features is that most ship OFF by default, or only half-configured.
- Turn it on deliberately and re-check it after big app updates — settings occasionally reset or move.
