Family Pairing
TikTok's parental-supervision feature. A parent links their own account to a teen's to set screen-time limits, restrict who can send direct messages, and filter content.
How kids use it
Set up from the parent's TikTok app under Settings → Family Pairing. The teen has to accept the link.
Is “Family Pairing” something to worry about?
Good news — "Family Pairing" is a protective feature, not a threat. The catch with platform safety features is that most ship OFF by default, or only half-configured.
- Turn it on deliberately and re-check it after big app updates — settings occasionally reset or move.
