Place Alerts
A Snapchat Family Center feature that notifies a parent when their teen arrives at or leaves up to three saved locations (home, school, gym). Both arrival and departure trigger an alert.
How kids use it
Requires the teen to share their location first — it's off by default. Useful for confirming they got to school or home, not for continuous tracking.
Good news — "Place Alerts" is a protective feature, not a threat. The catch with platform safety features is that most ship OFF by default, or only half-configured.
- Turn it on deliberately and re-check it after big app updates — settings occasionally reset or move.
