FYP
Short for 'For You Page,' the main feed on TikTok that shows algorithmically recommended videos — not just from accounts a user follows, but from any account the platform predicts they will engage with. Every TikTok user lands here first when they open the app.
How kids use it
If your teen says 'I saw this on my FYP,' the algorithm served it to them without them searching for it or following the account. The FYP can surface content from strangers, viral challenges, or — when the algorithm misfires — inappropriate material. Understanding it helps parents see how their kid encounters content they never asked to see.
Is “FYP” something to worry about?
No — "FYP" is ordinary 2026 teen vocabulary, not a warning sign. Knowing it just makes you harder to talk past.
