When a social media platform quietly limits a user's content visibility without notifying them. Their posts become less discoverable but they can still post and see their own content.

How kids use it

Teens who post certain types of content (anything violating platform guidelines) may be shadowbanned and not realize it. Low direct risk — but signals a teen may be posting content that algorithms flag as problematic.
