Meta expands teen safety alerts to Facebook searches and Messenger
By The Rundown · EditorWorth watching
Meta updated its supervised-teen alert system on October 29 to cover teen searches on Facebook and Meta AI conversations on Facebook and Messenger. Previously, these alerts — which notify a supervising parent when a teen repeatedly searches for self-harm or suicide terms — applied only on Instagram. Parents still cannot read their teen's messages; only the alert signal is shared. The expansion makes the system more consistent across Meta's platforms.
