Deepfake

Risk flag

AI-generated content — video, audio, or images — fabricated to look real. The version parents are encountering at schools is fake nude images: a classmate's face placed on a nude body using an app downloaded from the App Store. Creating or sharing these images is image-based sexual abuse and can carry criminal charges even between minors.

How kids use it

School incidents; news coverage; a parent discovering their child was targeted or is using these tools. Over 600 young people across 90 schools in 28 countries have been identified as victims since 2023.
