Partiful is an event invitation app popular among high schoolers and college students for organizing parties and get-togethers. It lets you create an event page, invite guests via link or phone number, and manage RSVPs. The app has become the de facto replacement for Facebook Events among Gen Z. The risks are relatively minor: event guest lists can be seen by all invitees, which can expose your child's social circle and phone number to people they don't know well. There are no direct messaging features beyond event comments. It does not require a social media account.
What to review
- Open Partiful → see Events they've created or been invited to
- Tap any event → see who else is on the guest list
- Check if any events they've created are set to public vs. invite-only
How to make events invite-only
- When creating an event → Guest Settings → Invite-only (not public link)
- This means only people you directly invite can see the event
Conversation to have
- Who creates the events they're invited to?
- Are they going to parties organized by people they actually know?
