What to do

Fine for 10+. The social deduction mechanic is straightforward and appeals to tweens. Chat can occasionally be rude in public lobbies—encourage kids to mute or play with friends instead. Teen and older players should be fine without supervision.

What it actually is

Among Us is a social deduction game where 4–15 players work together to complete tasks on a spaceship, while one or more hidden "Impostors" try to sabotage and eliminate crewmates. Players vote to eject suspected Impostors based on discussion and deduction. Matches are typically short (5–10 minutes) and rounds are fast-paced.

Muting and blockingAmong Us allows you to mute in-game chat during the lobby and voting phases if your child finds other players offensive. Play with a private code and friends-only lobbies to avoid toxic strangers entirely.\n\nCustomization: All cosmetic items (colors, hats, skins) are purely visual; none confer gameplay advantages and are not required to play.
