Social
Larping
Originally from 'live-action role-play,' but in teen slang it now means faking a lifestyle or persona online for social status. 'She's larping as an it girl' means she is performing an image that is not real. The tone is almost always mocking — the 2026 version of calling someone a poser.
How kids use it
Used on social media to call out perceived inauthenticity. Google named it one of the most-searched teen slang terms of 2026. Has nothing to do with the original hobby involving foam weapons.
