Decoy account

A fake or secondary account a teen uses to browse or follow content without their main account being associated with it. Similar to a finsta but often used to avoid detection by parents or to keep interests completely private.

How kids use it

"I follow that account on my decoy so my parents don't see it" or used to anonymously browse sensitive topics.

Is “Decoy account” something to worry about?

"Decoy account" is about avoiding adult eyes. That’s developmentally normal — every generation had a version of it — but it tells you where your current setup has gaps.
