AI slop

Low-quality, mass-produced content made with generative AI and spread across social media to chase clicks or algorithm attention. It ranges from harmless but fake (AI-generated animals in absurd situations) to genuinely harmful (fabricated news, fake images of real people including classmates).

How kids use it

Teens use the term to dismiss content they recognize as AI-generated: 'This is just AI slop.' Parents should know it because the harmful end includes realistic fake images of real people and fabricated breaking news, and because evaluating what's real is now a skill kids need early.

Is “AI slop” something to worry about?

No — "AI slop" is ordinary 2026 teen vocabulary, not a warning sign. Knowing it just makes you harder to talk past.
