Life360 is a family safety app that tracks the real-time location of family members on a shared map, along with crash detection, emergency alerts, and integration with Bluetooth trackers for pets and items. The free version offers basic location sharing and history; premium tiers add roadside assistance, identity theft protection, and 24/7 emergency dispatch. The app requires significant permissions to function, including continuous location access.
Location Permissions: Life360 requires location access to function. On iOS, open Settings > Life360 > Location and choose "Always" for full tracking, or "While Using" for limited functionality. Communicate with family members about when location is shared.
Optional Permissions: Camera, microphone, photos, and contacts are optional. Review under Settings > Life360 > Permissions and disable any your family doesn't need.
Circle Management: Only add trusted family members to your Circle. Review who has access to your location and driving data regularly.
Premium Features: Identity theft protection and emergency dispatch are premium-only; evaluate whether your family actually needs these for your risk profile.
