What it actually is

Hinge is a dating app designed to connect adults looking for meaningful relationships rather than casual swiping. Users build detailed profiles with photos, video, voice, and personality prompts, then connect by liking or commenting on specific profile elements. The app includes selfie verification to confirm user identity and tracks real-world date outcomes.
